Well we know what it looks like now. Its ia so a palette swap would be totally easy. Just needing to find the palette byte, same for mario

But to switch Luigi and Mario's spots wouldn't just be a palette swap. Wouldn't it be a model swap or something along those lines?

Oh okay. Still waiting on Clovers tool to be released so that Drewworks can do this and anyone else who decides to help. It'll be a late gift for my little brother.

I've looked into this a bit. Clover's tool does not allow you to edit the Mario sprite on the overworld (among others, though which ones, I don't know). Even though Mario is included in the sprite list, changes there do not effect the main player mario. I know where the textures are for that mario, but I don't know exactly where the palettes are, or if there's any animation information associated with those images.

So the long answer is yes, but there's still some digging to do before it's fully editable. I made a post earlier that references the table that holds the overworld mario sprites here:

Okay well hopefully there's a way to find all of Mario's sprites and the addresses that come with them so that Luigi can fully replace Mario in-game. Tyshy on YouTube found a way to replace Mario"s overworld sprites with Daisy so maybe you could ask him and have him join in on the discussion.
